โš ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings

๐Ÿ“‹ Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)

1

Form a Tight, Safe Fist

Begin with your hand fully open and fingers together. Roll your four fingers down tightly into your palm, curling from the fingertips down to the base pads. Lock your thumb securely over the outside of your index and middle finger knuckles, keeping your fingernails pressed inward.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Thumb resting horizontally over the first two fingers
  • โ€ข Flat knuckle front surface with zero gaps inside the grip
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Tucking the thumb inside the curled fingers
  • โ€ข Leaving a loose pocket of air inside the palm
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: An improperly tucked thumb will break or dislocate instantly upon impact.
2

Establish a Balanced Base and Guard

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, step your non-dominant foot forward, and angle both feet roughly 45 degrees to your target line. Soften your knees and keep your back heel slightly lifted off the floor so weight is distributed 50/50. Raise your hands to cheekbone height with elbows tucked against your ribs and chin tucked down toward your chest.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Rear heel lifted 1-2 inches off the ground
  • โ€ข Elbows resting flush against ribs protecting the torso
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Standing flat-footed on both heels
  • โ€ข Flaring elbows outward like chicken wings
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Flared elbows leave your ribs exposed and reduce punching leverage.
3

Drive Power from the Ground and Hips

Initiate the punch from your lower body rather than pushing with your arm. Pivot on the ball of your rear foot, rotating your ankle, knee, and hip forward toward the target like squishing an insect. Let this hip rotation pull your torso around, generating kinetic energy through your core before the arm extends.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Rear heel turns outward as hip shifts forward
  • โ€ข Shoulders rotate along an even horizontal plane without tilting
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Leaning the head and torso forward past the front knee
  • โ€ข Punching solely using arm and shoulder muscle without hip rotation
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Leaning forward off-balance compromises defense and strains lower back muscles.
4

Extend and Pronate the Striking Arm

Drive your fist straight out from your cheek toward the target in a direct line, keeping your elbow pointing down until the halfway mark. As your arm reaches 80% extension, rotate (pronate) your forearm inward so your palm faces downward at full extension. Keep your non-punching hand glued to your opposite cheekbone for defensive guard.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Punch follows a straight laser trajectory without looping
  • โ€ข Punching shoulder rises slightly to shield the side of the chin
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Dropping the non-punching hand down toward the chest
  • โ€ข Flaring the punching elbow out early into an inefficient arc
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Do not snap the elbow to full hyperextension; keep a microscopic flex in the joint at full reach.
5

Make Impact with the Primary Knuckles and Straight Wrist

Make contact precisely with the first two large knuckles (index and middle fingers), which are structurally reinforced by the radius bone. Ensure the top of your hand, wrist, and forearm form an unbroken straight line upon contact. Exhale sharply through your nose or teeth at the exact moment of impact while clenching the fist to maximum tightness.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Flush horizontal contact on the bag across the front two knuckles
  • โ€ข Forearm and back of hand aligned flat without wrist flex
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Striking with the weaker pinky and ring knuckles
  • โ€ข Allowing the wrist to bend backward or downward upon contact
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Striking with the outer two knuckles or a bent wrist causes acute sprains or boxer's fractures.
6

Retract Instantly Along the Same Path

Immediately after contact, relax the tension in your arm and snap your hand directly back to your guard position. Pull your fist straight back along the exact same linear path it traveled out, resetting your hip and rear heel to your initial stance. Maintain defensive vision on the target throughout the entire recovery phase.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Hand returns to cheekbone height in half the time of extension
  • โ€ข Stance immediately stabilizes with 50/50 balance restored
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Dropping the hand to waist level after throwing the punch
  • โ€ข Leaving the arm extended out lazily after striking
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: A slow or low hand return leaves your jaw completely unguarded.
